The Volkswagen Taos Gets Upgraded for 2025
Recently, Volkswagen of America announces several updates for the 2025 Volkswagen Taos to provide a newer, fresher look, more modern technology updates, greater power and efficiency while still maintaining its versatility and its best feature – being fun to drive. The new upgrades also include revised exterior styling and an expanded selection of paint options, joined with new wheel designs to present greater appeal to the eye. If you live in or near St. Louis Park, Wyoming, or Forest Lake, you can find the new 2025 VW Taos at Volkswagen Inver Grove.
What are the Upgrades?
For starters, exterior design has been changed to reflect a more aggressive front-end appearance with a new bumper design, new grille with an available light bar, and standard LED projector headlights with available AFS. Moving to the rear of the vehicle, you’ll find connected taillights and an illuminated Volkswagen badge to add to the distinctive upscale appearance of the new Taos. As to the paint and wheels, you can choose from colors like Bright Moss Green, Monterey Blue Pearl, and Monument Gray. You can also choose from wheel designs like 17-aluminium for front-wheel-drive and S models, 18-inch alloy wheels for the front-wheel-drive SE, and 19-inch alloy wheels for the SEL model. Taos also continued with the SE Black trim model, which was introduced in 2024 and includes a black roof, trim, and the unique 18-inch FWD models and the 19-inch for 4Motion AWD models.
Cabin Upgrades
The 2025 Taos features a new dashboard design along with new materials and colors, and eight-inch floating infotainment display standard on all models. Available features include touch control for the Climatronic HVAC system on the SE trim and above and new acoustic dampening treatment that allows you to experience reduced interior noise as well. The S model includes two-tone black and gray cloth seat upholstery; SE and Black models are equipped with CloudTex and cloth materials, while SE has two different two-tone options and all black for the Black trim. SEL models are now outfitted with leather seats, available in a two-tone black and gray combination or a new striking dark blue hue.
Beneath the Hood
You’ll find an updated version of the efficient 1.5L EA211 turbocharged four-cylinder TSI engine for the Taos. Hardware changed as well, including revised piston rings and fuel injectors, a modified turbo housing, a new gasoline particulate filter, and a larger intercooler. These upgrades raise the powerplant’s output from the outgoing model’s 158 horses to 174 horses. The new powertrain also includes an eight-speed automatic transmission to replace the seven-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic on 4Motion models.
For 2025, Taos features the VW sophisticated suite of IQ.Drive driver assistance across all trim levels. Among these features are:
- Travel Assist (semi-automated driving assistance)
- Front Assist (Forward collision warning system with automatic braking and pedestrian detection)
- Rear Traffic Alert, Active Blind spot Monitoring
- Lane Assist (Lane-keeping System)
- Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) Stop and Go
