Refreshed 2025 Golf GTI and Golf R

What’s New

For starters, the 2025 Golf GTI will be offered in three trims: S, SE, and Autobahn, while Golf R adds one trim to the lineup, the Golf R Black. The trim additions are not the only changes to the Golf series.

Golf GTI

Golf GTI has been given a fresh new look and enhanced technology. Outside design changes include a new front bumper and headlights, an illuminated logo and a standard lightbar. VW has also added two new colors, Slate Blue Metallic and Alpine Silver Metallic to the color selections. Complementing the new color additions is a bold new 19-inch aluminum alloy wheel design for Golf GTI Autobahn, the top-trim of Golf GTI.

Inside the GTI have been some significant changes. The interior redesign features a freestanding 12.9-inch touchscreen. The system has the latest operating functions which are shared with the ID, the Buzz, and the 2024 ID.4. The change offers faster software and a more intuitive layout while also adding hard buttons to replace the haptic switchgear on the steering wheel to improve functionality.

GTI SE, the mid-level trim, comes standard with black ArtVelours seat covers that were borrowed from the EU market’s high-performance Golf GTI Clubsport. Embossed with a hexagonal pattern in the inserts and finished with red detailing, the SE creates a striking look.

Golf R

Volkswagen Golf R has been refreshed with a 13-horsepower boost that makes it the most powerful Golf R yet, with an impressive 328 horsepower output after the engineering re-tooling. Coupled with a 7-speed DSG dual clutch automatic transmission, the 2025 Golf R is licensed to thrill. Additional features include new 19-inch forged alloy wheels that are now about 20% lighter than before to further enhance handling and performance. Exterior updates are visually striking with new headlights and a front bumper, illuminated front logo and a standard lightbar.

Like the GTI, the R interior boasts a new freestanding 12.9-inch touchscreen equipped with the latest operating system. Also, the new Golf R Black Edition joins the lineup with blackout detailing, carbon fiber décor, accents, brake calipers, and wheels. The Golf R Black Edition is offered in all three exterior color options, Lapiz Blue Metallic, Mythos Black metallic, or Pure White.
