The End of the US Production of the Volkswagen Passat is Commemorated by a 2022 Passat Limited Edition

Volkswagen has announced that the end of one of their sedans, the Volkswagen Passat, is near. To mark the end of its production in the United States, they’ve created a 2022 Volkswagen Passat Limited Edition.

The Volkswagen Passat made its debut in Germany in the year 1973, so the company decided to honor the roots of this sedan by building only 1,973 of the new Passat Limited Edition. Although the Passat originated in Germany in 1973, it wasn’t introduced to the United States until the next year. It originally had different names such as Dasher and Quantum, until 1990 when it became the Passat.

The 2022 Volkswagen Passat Limited Edition will be available in a variety of color combinations and interiors, but they all have a few things in common. For example, each Passat Limited Edition will have comfort sport seats with perforated Vienna leather, a power-adjustable passenger seat, and a driver seat with a memory feature. Other amenities across all Limited Editions include heated front and back seats, a Fender stereo, Rear Parking Assist, and navigation.

Some design elements that make the new Passat Limited Edition stand out include black mirror caps, 18-inch wheels that have a 15-spoke design, LED headlights, and power-folding side mirrors. Some exciting features of the Limited Edition are also included. They all have mats in the cupholders that display a drawing and ariel map of the Chattanooga factory as well as a “Chattanooga 2011” emblem on one side of the seat tags and a “1 of 1973” emblem on the other side.

The number of 2022 Volkswagen Passat Limited Editions set to go into production isn’t the only way the brand decided to celebrate its history. For instance, 423 models of the new Limited Edition will be created in Racing Green Metallic with a Mauro Brown cabin. This number is significant because it’s the area code of Chattanooga, TN, which is the destination of the production site for the American Passat.

The sedan’s original vehicle production code will also be commemorated. There will be 411 models created in Aurora Red Metallic with a Titan Black interior.

The brand has also taken inspiration from its six generations of imported Passat vehicles in the US, one of which was created in the US, as well as its five decades of sales in America. This is the reasoning behind their decision to make 615 models in Platinum Grey Metallic with a Titan Black Interior.

The last number of models to go into production, 524, represents the date that the Chattanooga factory opened in the year 2011 on May 24th. These models will be created in a Pure White body and a Mauro Brown interior.
