Volkswagen’s 2022 Arteon Earns TOP SAFETY PICK By IIHS For the Third Year in A Row

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has announced that the 2022 Volkswagen Arteon has been named the 2022 TOP SAFETY PICK when outfitted with LED headlights and the Adaptive Front-lighting System with dynamic cornering lights.

When a TOP SAFETY PICK is being considered, it is based on a “good” rating throughout six crashworthy tests with no less than “acceptable” ratings for headlights, and no less than “advanced” ratings for front crash prevention tests. Good ratings in the six crashworthy evaluation tests were earned by the 2022 Arteon, and a superior rating was achieved for the vehicle-to-vehicle front crash prevention, while an advanced rating was received for vehicle-to-pedestrian front crash prevention.

Volkswagen’s Arteon has loads of safety features like Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Monitoring, which is intended to warn drivers of potential front collisions with vehicles or pedestrians. In some cases when a potential crash is detected, an automatic braking assistance will occur. The Forward Collision Warning alert will go off both auditorily and visually with a warning symbol in the instrument cluster.

Other standard driver-assist features, in addition to Front Assist, offered for the 2022 Arteon include Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Traffic Alert. Standard on the SEL and SEL Premium models is Volkswagen’s IQ.DRIVE technology includes Travel Assist, Lane Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control Stop and Go, and Emergency Assist. The 2022 Arteon also has available Park Distance Control, Dynamic Road Sign Display, Light Assist, Area View, and Park Assist all in addition to IQ.DRIVE.

The 2022 Volkswagen Arteon is available in three different trim models, the SE R-Line, SEL R-Line, and the SEL Premium R-Line. Under the hood of the Arteon is a new 2.0-liter TSI that generates 300 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque and is paired with a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission with Tiptronic.

A new 18-inch wheel design is offered with the SE R-Line, along with rear Park Distance Control and wireless charging. The SEL R-Line features 4Motion all-wheel drive, which is standard, and available 20-inch dark graphite wheels. Lastly, the SEL Premium R-Line has the same upscale content from the 2021 model year. Standard across all trim levels is Volkswagen’s Digital Cockpit along with the MIB3 infotainment system, wireless App-Connect, navigation, and wireless charging.

The 2022 Volkswagen Arteon starts at $40,750 MSRP for the front-wheel-drive SE R-Line, while the SEL R-Line with 4Motion all-wheel-drive starts at $45,550 MSRP.
