2025 Updates

The VW Tiguan has been updated for the 2025 model year, starting with a new platform. Styling has been changed, and more features have been added. The result makes the Tiguan more competitive with other models in the segment. Perhaps the biggest difference between these two models is that the RAV4 was last redesigned in 2019 and won’t get a new one until next year at the earliest. The Tiguan’s updates make it feel fresh and new.

Premium Comfort

Though Tiguan is a five-seater, it provides impressive passenger room. VW makes the crossover large for the class with space for rear passengers to stretch out with up to 38.7 inches of legroom. At the same time, the model is two inches shorter than the previous year, which makes it easier to handle. The RAV offers a decent amount of cargo space, but it’s a little shorter on headroom for passengers. Premium amenities are standard on the Tiguan, such as heated front seats, which are optional on the RAV4. Ventilated front seats are an option on the Tiguan but not the Toyota model.

Today’s Technology

Both models stay up to date on tech needs for buyers, including a touchscreen that connects to your phone. However, Tiguan adds a little extra with a 12.9-inch infotainment touchscreen over the nine-inch version for the RAV4. Both models include an optional panoramic moonroof and standard digital gauge cluster, but the Tiguan makes the Surround View Camera standard. Tiguan’s 10.3-inch digital gauge cluster wins out over the seven-inch version for the RAV4, making it easier to read vehicle stats. Further enhancing Volkswagen’s technology is an optional 15-inch touchscreen with a heads-up display. You can also enjoy your entertainment through the 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.

Practical Performance and Protection

Both Tiguan and the RAV4 offer agile performance with almost identical horsepower. You take the SUVs from zero to 60 in just over eight seconds, and both provide an eight-speed automatic transmission. The two models are also similar on safety with their own systems, which include multiple features. The two systems are standard on all trims, but Tiguan makes blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alerts standard while Toyota includes it as an option on the base trim. The RAV4 also features eight airbags compared to VW’s ten airbags.

Both models have a lot to offer buyers, whether they are focused on comfort or safety. Toyota’s RAV4 offers a more rugged design and off-roading capability while the Tiguan provides a sleeker, more sophisticated look with a focus on
