/Thinking About a New VW Tiguan? | Volkswagen of Inver Grove
Volkswagen has truly mastered the compact SUV with the release of their latest Tiguan models. With a tried and true modular design of Volkswagens through the ages, available state of the art technology, outstanding safety ratings, and performance, the Tiguan is the consumer-friendly car choice.
The designers behind the Tiguan kept in mind accessibility, space, and organization when putting the vehicle together. Made with the shared MQB platform of the Volkswagen Golf, the Tiguan is made with three rows of seats and maximum 73.5 square feet of interior cargo storage. The second and third rows feature a 40/20/40 and 50/50 arrangement respectively and can be folded down to maximize space. Both back rows provide seven inches of adjustable movement; allowing for plenty of legroom.
The Tiguan offers its drivers a luxurious and spacious travel experience. The front row of seats were envisioned with the distance traveler in mind, with options for memory cushions and ample comfort for both driver and passenger. Also available is an advanced cockpit display. Each model has a contemporary design equipped with LED daytime running lights. The SEL Model offers intricate options for lighting, including puddle lights for its folding rear view mirrors, interior ambient lighting, and adaptive front lights.
All models of the Tiguan are outfitted with the MiB II infotainment system made exclusively by Volkswagen. The system comes equipped with a 6-inch advanced instrument panel on its base models, and 8 inches for its more premium models. Powered by Carnet, the Mib II system provides a ton of amenities including stolen vehicle tracking and accident reporting. The system also includes a 6-month trial version of Verizon Telematics, which allows for supervision of younger drivers including mileage boundaries and speed limit regulation. The SEL Models of the Tiguan has the option for Carnet’s “Guide and Inform” service, which provides sports scores, weather, fuel prices, and a free trial for Sirius XM radio.
The Tiguan has one of the best ratings in its class for the standard engine. The power behind the compact SUV comes from a 2.0 Liter turbo-charged engine with 184 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque. The engine is optimized for best efficiency and includes a standard 8 speed automatic transmission to enhance the overall fuel economy of the vehicle. Standard on the Tiguan is also a stop-start system that automatically shuts off the engine when the vehicle is at rest to minimize fuel use.
The Tiguan accommodates a driver’s individual style. Select models come with the available 4-motion AWD system, which are preprogrammed settings for road conditions based off traction, these include off-road, on-road, snow, and custom off-road. Also available are driving modes: normal, sport, eco, custom modes, which impact engine control, steering, transmission, and cruise control.
Volkswagen is famed for outstanding safety ratings in its vehicles, and the Tiguan and all its features earned the Top Safety Pick from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety. Its many features include forward and rear collision warnings with pedestrian and blind spot monitoring. The vehicle also has an overhead view camera and lane and parking assistance.
